The Butts Dig Dayschool 07.04.0907 April 2009
The Worcestershire Historic Environment and Archaeology Service have planned a day of presentations and of workshops around the findings of the excavations on the site of the Worcester Library & History Cetre.
The Butts Dig Dayschool - Saturday 25 April from 10.00am to 5.30pm To be held at the University of Worcester, Henwick Grove, St John's, Worcester WR2 6AJ
The Worcestershire Historic Environment and Archaeology Service have planned the Dayschool with a morning of presentations and an afternoon of workshops.
In the morning the background to the archaeological project will be explained, and the project team will describe the new information that has been revealed so far by the excavation, the detailed study of the historic buildings, and new historical research. The fieldwork at the site is still ongoing, so this will not by any means be the final word on the site! However we hope to provide enough information for everyone to understand the importance of this site.
In the afternoon there will be choice of short 'workshops' for small groups, run by members of the project team. These will be opportunities to look at a range of the evidence from The Butts site and to discuss current interpretations with the project team. We plan to run workshops on pottery identification, documentary research, pottery drawing, and how to date a historic building. It will be possible to sign up for two different workshop sessions during the course of the afternoon.
Cost is £15 which includes tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival, mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
Please bring a packed lunch or make local arrangements as the university restaurant is not open.
